"COOKIE MINING" - Students experience the economics of mining through this simulation. The valuable ore is chocolate chips. The chips are extracted, weighed, and judged on purity for payment. The gangue or waste is the cookie dough, which must undergo reclamation (reconstruction). Tools such as paper clips and toothpicks are purchased. Teams are charged for their time. Students try to make a profit for their team.
